Knowledgeable Dog Training Specialists in Victoria

This memory came up, and I thought it would be a fitting time to introduce myself & self-reflect on where Evolve K9 Training Solutions is today. 

For those who haven't met me yet, I am Brendon, the founder & head trainer here at Evolve K9 Training Solutions. After a career working in the security industry & as a first responder. I have trained & worked with dogs as a K9 handler, training dogs for various roles & purposes.

In 2012, my life changed dramatically from the type of work & exposure to traumatic incidents I wasn't feeling myself. I noticed I was withdrawing from friends, lack of motivation to want to do anything, nightmares & night terrors. After seeking answers to what is going on with me. After getting diagnosed with complex PTSD, severe anxiety & major depression disorder. 

I was lying on the couch watching a TV show called Stars & Stripes. The TV show was about pairing rescue dogs up with veterans & first responders, where they train the dog to be their service dog/assistance dog. 

After researching to see if there were any programs like that here in Australia, I was fortunate to be given the opportunity & paired up with Zena, pictured above. I remember feeling the overwhelming excitement & keenness to get into training her as my assistance dog. It was great to find my passion for dog training again and give me something to focus on daily.

Zena helped me in many ways, from teaching me how to love, trust & look after someone else. We worked hard with our training, progressed through & obtained our public access test with a guide hearing & assistance dog. 

In 2019, Evolve K9 Training Solutions was founded after noticing a lack of trainers providing assistance dog training.
